Mandate

Mandate

Syllabi is a novel public university dedicated to offering short courses with accredited micro-credentials for (up)skilling professionals on the African continent.

We were originally founded as ABI (African Biomanufacturing Institute) by Law No 052/2023 of 11/09/2023. But soon after its foundation, it was realized that industries other than biomanufacturing are in need of the same educational approach. Hence, the mandate was expanded and the name changed to Syllabi.

We offer research-driven, digitally enabled programs in a range of fields, ensuring a workforce that is prepared to meet the evolving demands of local and global markets. We design advanced training programs to foster technical proficiency, leadership, and innovation across multiple sectors, including healthcare, technology, and industrial development.

Syllabi operates within a robust network of partnerships, collaborating with leading academic institutions in their fields, industry leaders, and global organizations to deliver relevant, market-driven training programs.

Our focus is on empowering professionals with the knowledge and skills needed to thrive in a rapidly changing job market.

Regional and Pan-African Scope

Syllabi operates as the EARCCN. In January 2025, an independent commission chose Syllabi to host the East Africa Secretariat of the Regional Capability and Capacity-building Network  (RCCN) for Africa Centers for Disease Control (Africa CDC), reinforcing its role as a key player in workforce development and public health in the East African Community (EAC).

Vision & Mission

24

Our goal is to power Africa's future as a global innovation hub. We deliver impactful, industry-aligned skills training that drives sustainable growth across the continent.

Our Team

Accreditation

Syllabi was legally established as a public university by Rwandan law in September 2023 as ABI, part of a national effort to enhance professional education and skills training across the continent. We operate in full compliance with both national and international standards for study programs and certification, ensuring that our programs maintain the highest level of quality and transparency.

Syllabi furthermore partners with established academic institutions from Europe and beyond, who on their part go through accreditation and Quality Assurance processes both nationally and on a European or other regional level.

Our programs aim for alignment with the OECD Program for International Assessment of Adult Competencies (PIAAC), as well as other international frameworks that guarantee the integrity of our study programs and assessments.
